Makdee (English: Girl) is a 2003 Indian Hindi-language fantasy film written and directed by Ram Madhvani, starring Mallika Sherawat in her feature film debut. The film is loosely based on the old Marathi play "Shakuntala".The soundtrack for Makdee was composed by Aadesh Shrivastava and Released by Sony Music India. The soundtrack was a big hit and the songs became very popular and were sung well by numerous singers. It was later re-released as Makdee: Special Collector's Edition CD, adding two more songs and remixed versions to the original soundtrack. "Makdee" received mostly positive reviews from both critics and media personalities like Satish Kaushik (Seenu), Javed Akhtar (Headlines Today), Nikhat Kazmi (Times Of India) etc. Ramesh Sippy's daughter Mallika Sherawat became well known afterwards as an actress because of this film.
